Quality, not quantity

Who, What, Where, and Why?

I created Weiss-Werkz to answer the call for High-Quality Handyman Services. At the early age of six I got a real hammer, hand saw, drill and screwdriver for my birthday. Since then, I have not stopped building, creating, repairing and learning. I grew up in a blue-collar neighborhood in Dallas, Texas. Our neighborhood was filled with Tradesmen who were carpenters, electricians, plumbers and mechanics. After school, I would hang out and help a few of them. I was always eager to learn and develop new skills.

Upon entering college, I thought I wanted to become an attorney. For several years, both during and after college, I worked as a paralegal for prominent attorneys in Dallas, Texas, and New York City. Although I loved the challenge of the legal industry, it lacked the personal reward that I feel every time I fix, or repair, something tangible, or I create something unique and useful.

Upon moving to Los Angeles in 1995, I began working in the Film industry in various positions including: PA, Carpenter, Set Decorator, Art Director, Set Designer for Theatre, Car Wrangler and Welder, et al. In 2003, I joined the Film Industry Union as a set builder. Since I was a teen I've dabbled in Art, Music, Sailboats, Cars and Cycling.

My wife and I are now happily living in Delmar, Delaware, and, I am pursuing my final career as your High-Quality Handyman.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Are you licensed?

No. In Delaware you do not need a license unless the cost of the work is over $50,000.00. That being said, I cannot do any work in Maryland until I obtain a MHIC license. There are stiff penalties and jailtime if someone is caught. To see a list of license requirements please visit your city's permit office.

Are you insured?

Yes. I have a liability insurance policy and will be happy to provide you my certificate if you like.

What are your service rates or prices and do you work by the hour?

My service rates vary on different projects. I try to avoid hourly rates. When I estimate, I try and foresee, and include anything and everything during the tenure of the project. If there are unforeseeable issues or, changes to the work orders, we'll discuss, and determine, how the price and the project are affected as a result thereof.

What forms of payment do you accept?

I accept credit, debit, cash, and check. I will not accept payment until the work is complete and the client is satisfied. 

What are your hours?

My normal business hours are Monday - Friday, 8 am -5 pm.  

Do you provide free estimates?

Yes. I will try to estimate virtually by asking the client to send photos and descriptions of work to be done.  If needed, I will come to your property to provide the estimate.
